In the week before we lost one of the greatest rock icons of all time, Tom Petty played what would become his final show.

Closing out Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers’ 40th anniversary tour, Petty played the last of three sold-out, hometown shows at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl on September 25. For the encore, the group played “You Wreck Me” off 1994’s Wildflowers and “American Girl” off 1976’s Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
