The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences has announced its list of songs that are eligible to receive nominations in the Best Original Song category for the 2018 Academy Awards.

The current list of contenders includes music from 70 films, but that list will be whittled down to just 5 nominees. As is stands, late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and Fleetwood Mac’s own Stevie Nicks each have a shot at earning an Academy Award nom for “The Promise” (The Promise) and “Your Hand I Will Never Let It Go” (The Book of Henry), respectively.

"The Promise" was the last song Cornell released before his death in May. Hear both songs below.

Not only must a song contain both music and words, but a song must also have been written specifically for a film released this year in order to be eligible.

The official nominees for the Best Original Song Oscar will be announced when the Academy makes its reveal on Tuesday, January 23.

Find out who wins when the awards ceremony airs live from Los Angeles on ABC March 4th.
