Bob Seger may have postponed several recent shows, but that hasn’t stopped him from getting his music out there.

The first song off the singer’s forthcoming album, I Knew You When, is here, and it’s a cover of the late Velvet Underground legend Lou Reed's “Busload of Faith.” Seger takes Reed’s 1989 song and gives it a modern twist, changing some of the lyrics to reflect current politics.

The brass section gives the track a completely different feel that you can hear below:

I Knew You When, Seger’s self-produced album, was recorded both in Nashville and his hometown of Detroit and includes original songs as well as another cover: “Democracy” by Leonard Cohen.

Dedicated to Seger’s longtime collaborator and friend, the late Glenn Frey of the Eagles, the album’s deluxe edition features a song in Frey’s honor, aptly named “Glenn Song.”
