And You Think You Get Annoyed With Kids and Their Cell Phones
Man suing date for texting during movie
A 37-year-old man from Austin, Texas is suing a woman he went out on a date with recently.
Brandon Vezmar wants to recoup the $17.31 movie tickets he paid for because he claims his date, 15 minutes into Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, began texting.
For her part, the 35-year-old woman, who has asked to remain nameless, was completely unaware she was being sued for a bad date.
According to small claims court petition obtained by the Austin American-Statesman, Vezmar claims the woman “activated her phone at least 10-20 times in 15 minutes to read and send text messages.” He also claims he asked her not to use her phone or to go outside. The petition also says that the texting was a “direct violation” of the theater’s cell phone policy. In the below test message, reportedly sent by Vezmar, he claims her behavior was "wildly out of line" and that he's happy to put her "on the books" for the money.

The women told the newspaper in Austin that she refused to pay Vezmar back because “he took me out on a date” and that she’s not a “bad woman.”
She also says she’ll soon file a protective order against Vezmar because he contacted the woman’s sister in an effort to get the money back.
