Tom Petty’s solo love letter that swept fans away with folk rhythms and earnest lyrics is finally getting the re-issue it deserves. The late rock star’s estate announced the return of Wildflowers.

Petty’s 1994 iconic solo album drops October 16. Wildflowers & All The Rest includes a deluxe box set containing live performances of the album’s original songs, including 16 studio recordings of alternate takes from the original sessions.

The release also features unreleased tracks and home recordings like “There Goes Angela (Dream Away).” The 25-song LP lives on the first two discs of Wildflowers and All the Rest. A separate 10-song album, “All the Rest”, contains five previously unreleased tracks.

Warner Records, responsible for the original release, celebrated by sharing a home recording version of the album’s title track “Wildflowers.”

Tom always viewed the reissue with passion and often hinted at pulling the project’s trigger. During an 2014 interview with Rolling Stone he looked back on its influence on his career. “I broke through to something else. My personal life came crashing down, and it derailed me for a while. But I was at the top of my game during that record.”

Sadly, the artist was never able to revisit his solo work succumbing to an accidental drug overdose in 2017. Tom was 66.
